@Cat Lady Margaret My brain surprises me with weird made-up words when I’m doing the Spelling Bee. The other day I felt compelled to check whether “meathat” (like, a hat made of meat, I guess?) was a word.
@Selective Walrus it’s a real slang term! <a href="https://recordingbusiness.com/dictionary/prefix:stu" target="_blank">https://recordingbusiness.com/dictionary/prefix:stu</a>/ <a href="https://greensdictofslang.com/entry/f5vymky" target="_blank">https://greensdictofslang.com/entry/f5vymky</a>
Great puzzle. I successfully guessed the answers to the discarded clues in the constructor notes, except for #2 (Night vision goggles to help catch bugs?), which I had as FLYSPECKS. Doesn’t fit the theme perfectly, which gave me agita, but fun nonetheless! That’s probably a sign of a successful theme — gets the solver involved and the creative juices flowing. Loved it!
@DocP that’s really interesting that you say that. In the Philly region, where I am, it is extremely common to refer to appetizers as apps! Guessing it’s a regional thing maybe?
@Katie “Stu” is a real slang term, often used in hip hop! <a href="https://greensdictofslang.com/entry/f5vymky" target="_blank">https://greensdictofslang.com/entry/f5vymky</a>
@Matthew great comment, top to bottom.
@Ryan He definitely did funk. Soul too, sure, but yes to funk.
@SP So glad I read this comment to the end!! I am happy for you, that wedding sounds like an experience to remember.
@Meg I had this problem too! That “e” eluded me. Still a good puzzle, but very tricky for me.
