First time commenter here to say textile crafts have a long history of being demeaned simply for who is traditionally behind the work. Although it is true that crochet can fall under the needlework umbrella, I do think the clue was somewhat poorly thought out. I also think that there is a long standing notion that such work does not merit understanding primarily because it is something that is for the lesser folk. Therefore, those out there that voice their disappointment over this clue should not be immediately written off. The undercurrent of this discussion is something far deeper than terminology. If you think it's a joke, please reflect on and reconsider your position.
