Kind of a bummer as a new solver when I finally (almost!) manage to solve a Sunday alone and the comments are all complaining about it being too easy. But I guess I should've expected that. (I had to ask for help with BERNINI / ANI and ENYA / OPRY in the end)

I liked today's puzzle; just a small quibble though, shouldn't 38-Down be clued as an abbreviation? Given that it's [Sandwiches often on toasted bread] without a hint of initialism, I originally had BETS or BATS thinking it was a kind of sandwich I was unaware of (the Ford offering across was of little help to me).

@Barry Ancona I understand, but from my limited solving experience it seems like the rule is that an abbreviation or acronym must be clued as such no matter how common it is. For example, even in today's puzzle, the clue for ATMS pointedly includes the symbols “$$$” as abbreviation for “cash” or “money,” even though no-one says “automated teller machines” anymore.

@Barry Ancona I stand corrected! I really liked that clue from two days ago, I guess I didn't notice the mismatch with how I thought the rules worked. I obviously still have a whole lot to learn!

@Bruce I mean... "the one that had the answer's direction turn ninety degrees halfway through", like last Sunday's? I guess the italicized clues made it too easy? And for a rebus puzzle without any circles telling you where they go, you can look at the first one of this year. I agree these past few weeks have been a lot easier on average, although as a new solver I don't find that as annoying as you guys I guess.
