I don't comment much, but the crossword itself was fine. The theme is a complete dud. I had to read the column once, then the comments, then go back to the column again to get what the "theme" is. Just make a crossword lol
One of those puzzles where being non-American is a huge disadvantage. Clues and answers about political figures, schools, state quarters, etc are near impossible unless you get lucky with some crosses. This one didn't feel "difficult" so much as just obscure for people who didn't grow up or don't live in the USA.
@Molly K A "bye" is when a too seeded team.doesnt have to play a game early in a tournament. Essentially they get a free win in a first or second round, and get to move on without playing a game.

I guess this one is beyond me. I almost never comment here, but even after reading the column I don't understand how some of these rebus entries work. Tupac and Eminem are HPHIPARTISTS? Perfect condition is TPHIPSHAPE? Regis ILBIN? DINGDITCH? FLIPSANDALS? And yes, this is how the answers on my completed puzzle are showing. Some of the rebus squares I couldn't edit after a "check", so all became a little more puzzling, as it were. Put me in the rebus hater group to begin with, but this one doesn't even make sense to me. I guess my ignorance of the Greek alphabet is a real downside.

@Jeff P any puzzle where the "clues" aren't actually a clue are annoying. This one is just one of those puzzles where if your brain can't see the gimmick, you just won't get it. Even when I accidentally got two of the - and [see title] answers, they made absolutely no sense to me.
@RDJ It's dropping a pin on a map. Nothing to do with saving posts, it's simply a location you save or share on a digital map.
RELO? Really? That's .... not a word that anyone uses. I defy anyone to find me an example that isn't Aussie slang or a blunt, because my google skills can't find it. I get it, it makes sense as in relocate, but I don't think you just get to make up a new slang term just for a one off puzzle.

Just want to say that the answer for Morse was a big missed opportunity. CODENAME fit the spot and fits the clue even better, imo.
Puzzle was fairly easy, the theme or reveal neither helped or hindered. I suspect most themes and crossword tricks are mostly for the self flagellating pleasure of the constructor.

@Eric Hougland Would you mind telling me? As a non-American, I often see answers that are quite mystifying to me. Especially ones regarding universities and things connected to them. I know the term "Ivy League School" but what does ELIS have to do with them? Are there a lot of guys named Eli that go Ivy League schools?
