Nice crossword, but I didn’t feel the clues for 44-down and 45-down matched their answers… For 44-down MTDOOM I would have had an abbreviation in the clue, e.g. ‘Frodo’s destination in LOTR’ (I mistakenly had MORDOR as the answer for this) For 45-down LAYLOW I didn’t feel the tense of the clue matched the answer… instead of ‘tried not to draw attention’ I would have had ‘Try not to draw attention’
I personally found this one incredibly difficult!
I thoroughly enjoyed this solve, contrary to the naysayers in some of the previous comments… Excellent theme, interesting and varied fill, what’s not to love?! One thing that currently eludes me however… Caitlin Lovinger mentions the significance of ‘Set’ crossing ‘Osiris’ at its ‘second and final’ letter, as well as mentioning how ‘Brutus’ twice crosses ‘Caesar’ at the ‘S’ and the ‘R’… I can’t yet spot the link or the significance of either of these so if anyone can help me out please do!
