Almost nailed it by myself! It doesn’t happen very often, especially with Wednesday puzzles (English isn’t my first language). But this one was pretty fun! Or I actually got some experience after solving over 800 puzzles😄 Bottom left corner was too tricky for me, tho, had to use some Google, but it’s still a huge win for me! Thanks a lot, Jeremy!
It’s fun to read how easy it was for you guys. Really fun… Meantime, it took more than an hour for me to beat this puzzle with a lot of help of my friends Google and Chat GPT, lol. On top of that, my “uncovering” of the theme was actually wrong 🤣 Thankfully, just slightly wrong. Feel so dumb, even though English is my second language
I’m not a native speaker and I typically use ChatGPT a lot if it’s not a Monday puzzle but today it was just me and Google, lol. First time I’ve ever solved something “not Monday” without crying “Help me, ChatGPT!” Thank you, Games Team
I honestly solved this one with dumb luck. After so many wasted attempts, I realized the key word could be EXIT, since you need an exit to escape a room. Thanks for the explanation, I really appreciate it. This puzzle was way too clever for me, but Fortuna was on my side today, thanks her for that 😄
Should I mention that I watched El Satario movie or is it too inappropriate here? Well, I just mentioned it. For those of you who want a review — it was… an unusual experience 😄 These days it feels more like a bad stupid comedy. But you need to watch it if you think that people in good-old-times were better and more decent than our modern society (they weren’t). Interestingly enough, you can watch it on Wikimedia Commons (I didn’t expect that). And yeah, it was a pretty tough puzzle for me since I’m not a native speaker, so I used Google a lot, but I have to say it was difficult even with cheating today. A bit proud of myself that I didn’t give up😄
@Francis Fair point. Thanks God the clue isn’t “Yuri Gagarin’s patronymic”. Can you imagine spell ALEKSEYEVICH?😄
Totally fine with MINOR TEAM, by the way. I’m a huge sports fun myself but come on, people… In some places they call it “farm clubs”. Because it’s kinda about raising young players like plants, I don’t know. So… Could’ve been worse, right?
@Xword Junkie There’s also such a thing as overnight buckwheat…😄
@sotto voce Thank you! I can't say enough how much I appreciate all your kind words!
@CCNY Yeah, I tried to solve puzzles from The Telegraph, it's a whole different language, plus the cultural gap is even bigger between me and Brits Thank you for your kind words!
@Brian Thanks, Brian. It’s a great way to improve my English, definitely. For example, I’ll never forget that there’s a silent P in the word “Cupboard” now, because of the clue in a crossword puzzle😄 Yes, it’s very hard for me and I’ve never solved even a single Monday puzzle from the Archive all by myself — I always have to turn autocheck on at some moment. But I’m trying hard 😄
@Grant French cats must be confused by hearing this phrase from people a lot these days, lol
@G Thanks a lot for all kind words! And about AI — ChatGPT's help is the last thing I use. It helps to understand why the answer is this or that because, I'm not gonna lie, sometimes I dont't understand a thing, lol. Late week puzzles are too difficult for my vocabulary and asking for explanations and translations helps to understand what I'm actually doing at the moment
@Francis I would love to know what’s wrong with Yuri 😄
