Best to just avoid puzzles by this Mr. Quigley, as he is evidently the sort who thinks it’s clever or amusing to spend their time ferreting out archaic words that are actually never used in real English writing or speech. IMMIX indeed!

Enjoyed this puzzle, but… a RIFF is not a jazz improvisation. Kind of the opposite really. It’s a prepared and repeated musical snippet or song element, any style of music.

@Steve L The clue is “based in” not “headquartered in”, which is not really the same thing. In the Canadian federal context it should be regarded as drastically different. I worked in CBC for decades and it would have been a heresy to claim that the corporation was “based in Ontario.”
