Endue? Granted, it's a word in very thick English dictionaries, but in 60 years of reading hours every day, I've never encountered it in actual English text. Maybe if you're going to use it in a Tuesday crossword, you should expand the clue to include some hint like (in nineteenth century hymns).

Just. Too. Clever-ish. I don't really understand all the theme clues even after they are explained.

Funny how different puzzles play to different solvers so differently. This was the easiest Friday/Saturday puzzle I've ever encountered. No silly tricks. Very few obscure cultural clues (so many puzzles are hard just because I pay almost no attention to music or cinema, and remember exactly nothing of what I do consume). Just words and word play. Love it.

For the record, very little of Greenland is tundra. The only thing you can describe "much" of Greenland as is "ice sheet."

9 Across ("A State slogan, Don't ...") and it's bridge "mess with Texas" being an anagram for Texas is the worst trick clue iin a puzzle with too many too clever by half clues. It's probably the worst clue I've ever seen in a NYTs puzzle, since the answer simply won't make sense to most people without explanation.

@RichPFromDC If you've ever probated an estate, then you've probably seen a list of ASSETS in the decedants will. This was one of the less obscure clues in the puzzle, to me.
