I actually enjoyed the theme and the specific words for it, but some of the clues today were definitely a stretch. 5/10
You missed a real low hanging fruit for a "bowling alley" joke here
I think it is just genuinely impossible for people to make a good hint for AEIOU. This one was infinitely better than "feature of gathering clouds" from a few weeks back, but I still can't call this one good. Overall good puzzle, though. MY CUSTOM RIDDLE FOR THE DAY: A rearwards town one could call "Center" is found nestled away in the great state of: .... Reply with your guesses and reason and I'll reply if anyone gets it right
Did something in this puzzle or article contribute to that perspective or is it fully irrelevant? This article even says to "take your time" at the very start. I also agree with Barry's comment in that speed solving is still a valid, just different, way of enjoying these puzzles. If you look at other hobbies, speed seems to be a pretty natural progression for a lot of people looking to push themselves or their craft. The Rubik's cubing community for example, I think it's also fair to say it isn't a sport in the same way you say crosswords aren't a sport, yet speed is one of the many progressions for people looking to enjoy the hobby in a new way. Nothing wrong with it
