Today’s puzzle was so lovely I just spent 5 min trying to find a place to leave a note for the creator. I loved seeing this be if my favorite fantasy authors make an appearance, and the garden theme was just wonderful! I had two of the perimeter clues when I figured out “wallflower” - it made the remaining perimeter words great fun to solve.

Feeling ridiculously happy about getting 4D right off the bat as someone in my 40s. Grew up loving big band music - fabulous when it pays off! A very fun puzzle all together.

@momonjava that’s amazing!!! I don’t even try Saturdays without autocorrect turned on. Just recently earned my first gold star Monday - aspire to be like you one day!

Very fun puzzle! Perfect for a Monday or a Tuesday - my only ever potential gold star days so far. I didn’t get the theme clue but really enjoyed the entire rest of the puzzle. Thanks, makers!

I’m a newer solver; Mondays and Tuesdays are my only “gold star” potential days. When I read these commentaries I find things I never noticed. I solved that entire puzzle and totally missed that a bunch of words started with p_ss. Do you all notice these things as you go along?

@Jane Wheelaghan 1. A shim is a wedge shaped piece of wood that is used to slide under pieces of furniture when they are not all reaching the floor in an even way. It’s a common tool in construction and woodworking. 2. “Ole” seems to be one of the most commonly used words in the NYT crosswords – whenever it’s three letters and has to do with something that fans of a sport say, it’s almost always Ole. 3. “SRS “is short for “seniors “, which is the name used in the US for the class of highschoolers about to graduate and also for the class of undergraduate college students about to graduate. (Usually 4th year)

@Grant As a beginner I appreciated today. I love all those other parts later in the week as well, but it’s so nice getting a dingie gold star day in a week.

@Justin agree. The lines now looks strange on my iPhone as well. Doesn’t interfere with my ability to solve the puzzle, but is definitely less pleasing visually than before. Hopefully the IT team is on it and gets it updated soon.
