I enjoyed this puzzle berry much. (Someone please laugh the silence is getting awkward.)
This was my first time playing a Saturday crossword (I’m a newbie). The wordplay was so fun! I remember getting 27-A even though entering it as an arbitrary guess and being shocked that I managed to enter the correct clue.
Sean: “Every Across clue is meant to be read in reverse.” Me: oh thank gosh I’m not going crazy
I wish we were able to give some sort of “favorite point” to puzzles we like best, because I definitely would give one to this puzzle!
I never could remember if it was hors d’OEuvres or hors d’OUevres. Now I know I’ll never forget!
I’m an avid skier and I have some logic skills, so this puzzle’s theme was very fun for me! Loved it
For 49-A, the app is highlighting 57-Down, not 57-Across. Is anybody else getting this issue?
I play an instrument, but Baroque music never interested me as much as music from other periods. It was nice seeing my knowledge come in handy for this puzzle, though!
The theme was surprisingly easy for me today. It was fun reviewing my inventions trivia!
Not me giggling uncontrollably when my knowledge of music and astronomy finally came into use with 7 and 8 Down.
Wait— shouldn’t it be “than the one I made,” and not “that the one I made?” Oh well, she maybe just got carried away and made a little air-er. I’ll just blow it off.
Love to see that there are other picky grammarians out there! Enjoyed the puzzle!
@John Kroll Yes and no. Though it took me some time, it was a pleasant “aha” moment when I figured it out. But I do see your point.
@Colin Elliott Same here. I came to Wordplay just to see if anyone else had the same issue.
@Bill Never thought I’d learn some chemistry from reading the Wordplay column
It’s nice that Sean mentioned the gaming part of AMALGAMATE. Huge UT fan!
@jennie Thanks for the clarification
@Redwoodtree Your job must be so cool
