After several years of absence during law school, I have managed to reintroduce myself to my passion for crosswords as I am in the summer before my last year. At some point I had over a 1000 day streak but most of it was on paper! Today was my 33rd day and longest streak on the app but whew it was a toughie. I had to go to the blog for some clues. I feel good about it. I hope that I can maintain it during my last year of school despite the cognitive rigor.
Love minesweeper and love crosswords. My two most favorite games combined. What an amazingly creative puzzle.
@Logan I was certain it was smolts…which seemed wrong as a plural. I am from eastern Washington and have fished for salmon my whole life. I have never ever heard of this term SAMLET.
Slow and steady. 24 mins slower than my average BUUUUUTTTTT I didn’t have to use any clues at all. I felt the strong urge go to the blog but I resisted despite feeling overwhelmed with the clues. I can feel my mind working in flexible and creative ways. Now time for lunch. 🥪
Bottom right corner was tough. Even after looking at clues, still took lots of time. Liked the theme!
@JJ roughest corner for me for sure.
I do not understand EARNEDRUN for 30D? Baseball reference?
Tough puzzle. I usually finish the puzzle the night before but not today. Had to go to the blog and comments pretty quickly which feels like a hollow victory but I didn’t google anything. Still about 30 minutes over my typical Saturday. What a RIGAMAROLE. Thanks for the mental workout today.
@DW just realized I totally misread the clue. I thought it said contraction. Probably a cluing mistake. How funny. My brain made it make sense. Hahaha.
I’m either getting better or this was easier than most Wednesdays. I used zero clues and did it almost 6 mins faster than my average. Definitely enjoyed it. Cute little theme.
@Stephanie Me too! I was delighted by today’s puzzle. :-)
Didn’t really use the theme until I solved it but had an error. Once I figured it out I was able to change LeGUARDIA to LAGUARDIA. Silly northwesterner. Cute little theme. :-)
@tangerine double contraction with ‘tis and n’t. ‘Tis = it is + n’t= not. It is not (‘Tisn’t) a contradiction!
Above average solve time on Tuesday and my best time for a Wednesday. They were inversed. :-) Little disappointed in TEA BREAK rather than TEA time as the theme revealer. I have never heard the former.
@Yvonne there is a rebus in 5 different squares that fits the theme.
