Was this a sponsored post??? Way too many brand names
@Mango I normally only come to the comments to say how much I disliked a puzzle so trying something new here. Lol.
I enjoyed this puzzle but I’m side-eyeing the clue for “if ever”
Count me among those who had “satins” down first. I also didn’t care for the “um hi” “oh gee” “we care” word mash fill
A perfect Monday puzzle, in my opinion.
The Sharif don’t like it You know he really hates it Rockin’ the … Denali
@EC I thought the same thing. Could easily say “domicile made of ice” or something. Or even “structure made from water”
Count me among the many who didn’t care for this one. I didn’t like the many of the clues and the fill was super meh with bad word mash, weird plurals, and trivia. Not a fun puzzle.
Absolutely terrible puzzle. Terrible clues, terrible solutions, terrible theme. Nothing to like here— way off the mark.
@Steve L There is a difference between the occasional brand name in a puzzle and the entire crossword being an ad for Big Cereal (that’s a joke). In addition to the other brands interspersed throughout. Also, FYI, you don’t get a gold star for defending the poor downtrodden ::checks notes:: crossword puzzle assembler from criticism.
l strongly oppose rebus encroachment on non-Thursdays. There is a reason I do not do Thursday puzzles, and that is because I hate Thursday gimmicks.
Not a fan of the theme at all, which was niche. The big reveal is a “hat” and some lyric about making a hat. Super gimmicky.
third time was the charm in terms of spelling “lhasa” correctly. lahso, lahsa, lhasa.
I solved it under my average (before anyone accuses me of being sore about the puzzle because I didn’t solve it) but some of these clues were really bad..2010 documentary trilogy about a wine exam? I took little pleasure in this one. Also I didn’t get the theme. What the shaded letters have to do with elbows is beyond me.
I really enjoyed this one. I even liked the gimmick, which I rarely do.
I’ve never heard of ”bones up on” and I don’t know what bones are in the context of a jug band. I didn’t like this puzzle that much.
I’d like to see “Q-Tip” clued as something to do with “A Tribe Called Quest.” If crossword setters think all of us know Elton John and John Mellencamp songs, I think they could throw in some famous rappers rather than dropping store brands as the clueing.
Didn’t care for the theme. But I’m someone who doesn’t really care about puns or gimmicks. I just like trivia and words.
@Anna S Haha. The one combo I didn’t try and I legit didn’t see it. but that might be that “a to b” doesn’t actually mean a short step. Getting to b from a could be long.
Monday had too much baseball and Wednesday had too much (American) football. Still, I enjoyed it. I had “ASL” for class with no written exams … which worked with “Brs” and “Duel” for paired number!
I tried to fit “imaginary” first then had “not real” for the longest time… lol.
Dubious theme. “Do the mat”? “Put up wit”? Sure, Jan.
@Mango Also, the only SST I acknowledge is “sea surface temperature.”
@Ιασων thanks— I was thinking tai chi first and it kind of stuck with me even after the crosses
@Michael B. Maybe the worst of many in this puzzle
@Andrzej znasz co to jest— salceson
@JayTee I solved the puzzle without looking anything up, well under my time. I found the puzzle tedious and filled with terrible clues and trivia. Imagine that.
@EC I certainly agree with you— I have never heard them described that way and would never describe them that way.
@Queenie no one says it anymore. it’s popularity as slang is long over. but it was popular amongst the youth at one time maybe 5 years ago
Can someone explain 9 down— curve on a score? and 45 across— crazy, sexy, or cool- Abbr.? I got them because of the crosses but what?? I don’t get either if them.
@Andrzej I appreciate your defense but I’m unbothered by any pushback. There are always bootlickers in these comments who defend every crossword from even the lightest of criticism. This one is no exception. I know which day a rebus is confined to the majority of the time and I dislike it appearing outside of that day. I also disliked this puzzle in general despite my gold star.
too much baseball but otherwise ok.
Disliked this one a lot. Terrible clues.
How is the answer “Gate”? Lots of bad clues and trivia in this puzzle Aside from the magic eight ball theme, didn’t care for this one.
Fun and easy. Some different clues and answers than the usual but not arcane.
another unnecessary theme based on a bad pun. i don’t understand why themes are so popular. i generally solve most puzzles without regard to them and most rarely add much. the puzzle was good otherwise
Can someone explain what on earth an “atob” is? or… a tob? at ob? ato b? a t o b? I completed the puzzle on crosses… searched this after I finished and the only thing that came up was javascript. if these crossword assemblers want me to know javascript you gotta be kidding me.
