@Mango I normally only come to the comments to say how much I disliked a puzzle so trying something new here. Lol.

@EC I thought the same thing. Could easily say “domicile made of ice” or something. Or even “structure made from water”

Count me among the many who didn’t care for this one. I didn’t like the many of the clues and the fill was super meh with bad word mash, weird plurals, and trivia. Not a fun puzzle.

Absolutely terrible puzzle. Terrible clues, terrible solutions, terrible theme. Nothing to like here— way off the mark.

@Steve L There is a difference between the occasional brand name in a puzzle and the entire crossword being an ad for Big Cereal (that’s a joke). In addition to the other brands interspersed throughout. Also, FYI, you don’t get a gold star for defending the poor downtrodden ::checks notes:: crossword puzzle assembler from criticism.

l strongly oppose rebus encroachment on non-Thursdays. There is a reason I do not do Thursday puzzles, and that is because I hate Thursday gimmicks.

Not a fan of the theme at all, which was niche. The big reveal is a “hat” and some lyric about making a hat. Super gimmicky.

I solved it under my average (before anyone accuses me of being sore about the puzzle because I didn’t solve it) but some of these clues were really bad..2010 documentary trilogy about a wine exam? I took little pleasure in this one. Also I didn’t get the theme. What the shaded letters have to do with elbows is beyond me.

I’d like to see “Q-Tip” clued as something to do with “A Tribe Called Quest.” If crossword setters think all of us know Elton John and John Mellencamp songs, I think they could throw in some famous rappers rather than dropping store brands as the clueing.

Didn’t care for the theme. But I’m someone who doesn’t really care about puns or gimmicks. I just like trivia and words.

@Anna S Haha. The one combo I didn’t try and I legit didn’t see it. but that might be that “a to b” doesn’t actually mean a short step. Getting to b from a could be long.

Monday had too much baseball and Wednesday had too much (American) football. Still, I enjoyed it. I had “ASL” for class with no written exams … which worked with “Brs” and “Duel” for paired number!

@Andrzej I appreciate your defense but I’m unbothered by any pushback. There are always bootlickers in these comments who defend every crossword from even the lightest of criticism. This one is no exception. I know which day a rebus is confined to the majority of the time and I dislike it appearing outside of that day. I also disliked this puzzle in general despite my gold star.
