Almost an hour over my average time, but it sure felt good to get this one! Felt difficult but fair. No cheap feeling clues to anger me. A bit embarrassed at how long I was happy to leave POTHERE up there like it meant something...
@IL Certainly technically correct in that an Operating Sysytem (OS) is technically software. But I'd argue the usage of the wording "software package" has this clue leaning towards incorrect. Colloquially, a software package is something installed *within* the OS, and a DISTRO is a particular variant of the OS itself. No one refers to DISTROS as "software packages". When I first read the clue I thought we were going full Linux and I penciled in TARBALL, but alas DISTROS threw me for longer than I'd care to admit.
@Ken Burk Yes! I actually would have loved the clueing "One of 31 in the NFL". That would have been a kind of clever way to test someone's trivia knowledge. Even understanding co-owners are a thing I think that would have made more sense considering the Packers quite literally do not have an owner making 32 a factually incorrect clue no matter how you interpret it.
@Julie Thought this was a slight stretch as well, but if you think about the definition of STERN... Strict, severe, harsh, rigorous, uncompromising It's not relying perhaps on the most common usage of the word, but it fits fairly well based on some of those secondary definitions.
