I thought my line of port-a-potties would be a hit but it turned out NOBODY GAVE A CRAP
Hmmm. Radar was an Iowan, but I'm pretty sure Hawkeye was from Maine.
I sold The New Mexican on the street in Santa Fe for a little while. It cost 10 cents a copy...you turned in seven cents and kept three. Bigger kids with established turf around the plaza and capitol could easily sell 60 to 80 copies in an afternoon. I had a hard time getting rid of 20 which was the minimum consignment. Scariest headline I remember from that time read "Cold War Thaws"..were things getting better or were we closer to a "hot" war? Confusing for me, 11 years old.
My favorite firth is that of the Forth. I just find Firth of Forth amusing somehow.
@Keith It was a major player in the hub-bub of chatter from the infield during our little league baseball games. Like, "hey batta batta" before a pitch and "attaway!" following a good one.
I'm remembering an early visit to the dentist many, many years ago, playing with silver globules of mercury he'd spilled onto the tray for my amusement. Sounds crazy, but I'm sure that happened.
@Bill in Yokohama Took the blue star too because Nimea sounded right.
Pottage makes me think of pease porridge in a pot, nine days old.
@LovePuzzles Maybe a 0 instead of an O somewhere?
Scrimp and save, did you?
My greatest Wordle day was when my go-to entry turned up five yellow squares for a no-doubt-about-it choice for an eagle two score.
@Grant I like anchovy paste on buttered toast for breakfast.
