I am also an avid intermediate/advanced crocheter (I'm just short of writing my own patterns) and I had no idea what 2D was. I suppose lace would not be considered a beginner's project, but beyond that, it really depends for on the format of the pattern, rather than the pattern itself. Take a complicated bit of lace, or amigurumi for example. Trying to create those from using a chart would be quite difficult, and would probably put those projects into the "advanced" category. But, take the same projects with nicely written patterns, include a couple of photos: that's intermediate. Take the same patterns, write them neatly, include a photo with every step, and add a video? That's something an advanced beginner can handle. Anyway, I agree with the user who said too much French, I thought the US was a Spanish speaking country! /s

Thank you for such a wonderful puzzle! I'm a big fan of wordplay over obscure knowlege, and was able to finish this Friday quickly (but not too quickly). More of this, please!

LARS was my first solve right out the gate. I saw Metallica live in Golden Gate Park in the before times. Best live show I've ever seen, but Parker and Stone got it right. I made a somewhat educated guess on SDSU, and filled the southeast corner in pretty quickly. In the end, it was the poker references and INERTIA that had me stumped. I, for one, revere the humble sloths and their nice healthy speeds of slow, and had always thought of inertia in terms of high speed. TIL!

Am I the only one who thought R/H/E had to mean something like Run, Hide, Escape? Maybe I just spend too much time with school teachers.

@Ed Blond Due to the excess time I used to spend surfing the web, I was familiar with the term. Years later, do I know what it means? Nope.

@Nancy GERMS for cooties made sense to me, but I never had to deal with lice growing up (just luck really). I might have forgiven IDEMPOTENT of not for sooooo many proper nouns and French words. Can't say I loved this puzzle.
