@Charlie Amp is short for Amplifier. It's basically a little speaker for guitars and the like. While you would normally still use the signal from the guitar for the main PA, the Amp is normally still on and serves as a monitor (also a speaker) for the player. No complaints from a sound engineer here.
@Francis "Nile" was also in the clue, so I'm guessing it was supposed to be a cute little nile-vile rhyme.
@branchop On the top of the page, there is always two links - one to the "tricky clues", one for the theme of the day. Both will always show you spoilers. While I absolutely understand the frustration of feeling cheated out of a nice puzzle, those rubrics were never meant to be spoiler free - it's a daily discussion of the crossword, and will include interesting things to discuss. That's like complaining that a forum about marvel films talked about the latest marvel film, therefore spoiling you because you wanted fans and creators to just talk about it in vague terms...
@Mike Adieu literally translated means "to God", and au revoir "see you again". While they're not the same, farewell and goodbye aren't really direct translations either.
@Michael Hendler I did it the other way around and retained all my data. I'm fairly certain that your streaks etc. are directly linked to your personal account, not which subscription you have tied to it.
@Lindsay Considering the VIPs on the red carpet are often mystified and celebrated for something they only achieved with a lot of help and support (like movie quotes being credited to actors as opposed to the writers or people being celebrities simply for being rich), I'd say it stays an apt description. They are important people, they do the "fancy" stuff, while the daily chores do not get as much recognition.
@Jane Wheelaghan I desperately wanted it to be tea, because I couldn't think of anything else. Who would bring back a golf tee?
