Ok credit for at least a somewhat creative way to get “eels” in there, it comes up so often must be hard to find new ways to spin the clues.

Tough for a Monday, with some foreign language words and especially the combination of a TAM and LEMMA, neither of which I knew before today’s puzzle (despite having survived multiple levels of calculus in college… ok so I must have forgotten what those helpful theorems are called). But also when crossed up with Dim Sum (is it “sum” or “sun”, I couldn’t recall as I was struggling to finish a Monday puzzle?!) this was not as easy as many Mondays.

Thought it was a pretty fun one overall, but the clue to 42 down (“Elaborate”) was tough, especially with the pairing of it with that 49 across “solfège”. Overall, a good Wednesday puzzle.

I love Nick Offerman. But I like him a little less now. That was a hard one! Some weird context. Not always satisfyingly so… But I’m not complaining.

Always intrigued how the editors manage to publish the Crossword and Mini with linked or matching word, such as today. And they were both 4-Down! 🌖

Ok who are the wise guys and gals that make sure to choose Spelling Bee puzzles that have the same odd words as the Crosswords?! “Fora”?! The first time I’ve ever seen the word was in the crossword today. Then I go to finish the Spelling Bee… and there it was again. This happens too often to be a coincidence actually. (And the Mini clues often have link to the Crossword puzzles too.)

@Heater …agreed. Not one of the best puzzles. The T’s were cool and I enjoyed the sploot, but the clues were not very good nor did. Felt like someone who doesn’t use common English trying to make a puzzle, and not well edited. Everything was just a bit off, and not in a witty sense.

Felt misled in the wrong way by 65 across. I didn’t know that the award name was an acronym. I thought it was just a “cutesy” take, namesake spin based on the network that created them.

@Roger no, I think this was a hit/miss one, I was missing too and didn’t really appreciate the clues even after I figured out the answers. Not a great puzzle IMO.

Another fun crossover with a different NYT game in the puzzle today, with 41-down in common with the Strands puzzle… fun and fun puzzle overall. Five gold stars this week, have a crack at my first week long streak if tomorrow is a little kind like the last week’s worth of puzzles have been. (As opposed to the Wordle, which has included some real streak-busters of late. The puzzle editors have been kind enough to ease up in some places while “nail”-ing us elsewhere! 😉)

@Kevin D …you mean: you would have beaten your Monday average IF YOU CHEATED! 😜 JK. Asking a friend or family member for some assistance is probably considered fair game to most.
