NE corner crossings were tough... 11D - Need to brush up on my WWI knowledge... though, I'm not sure that I love this clue. "Menace" implies the specific person or being that causes harm and not the tool or medium of causing harm. Calling the UBOAT the "Menace" in this clue is like calling the car used in a drive by shooting the menace (rather than the shooter / driver).
