ORLON? On a Monday? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your kitchen? Wonder if SUPER NINTENDO Chalmers was an intentional hidden Simpsons reference.
Anybody else confidently enter WINTER OLYMPICS for 48A on the first pass?
That has to be the shortest Wordplay column I can remember seeing!
@JM Yeah that one I feel should've had a question mark at the end. It's pol as in politician with primary meaning a primary election.
Anybody else have Michael Buffer for 19A on the first pass?
Personal best and first Thursday without any lookups. Also took less than half the time as yesterday's so-called "Wednesday" puzzle. Tricky but fun theme that clicked instantly once I got the revealer. I thought the fill and cluing were more straightforward than a typical Thursday, but maybe I was just on the wavelength as the constructor.
BATTLE SUITS? I promptly filled in 'exoskeleton' at 32A and got the whole middle of the grid messed up for a while.
Monday took more than double my average Monday time, yet today took less than half my average Wednesday time and 20 minutes faster than Monday. Go figure.
