I have been doing the NYT crosswords for over a year now. I get the rebuses, I figure out some of the trickier puzzles within puzzles, but no… not this one. Eventually I was just putting in letters and checking. Even with the whole thing filled in, I couldn’t suss out what the trick was. This kind of puzzle is extremely frustrating for me. Just not how my brain works and not enjoyable.
@Sara W no one is saying they don’t want to be “puzzled”. There is a point where it crosses over into frustrating territory. Not liking this particular puzzle doesn’t mean people don’t want to be challenged. Many of us find the other puzzles, even with some twists or rebuses etc challenging yet still enjoyable. Ones like these cross over into unenjoyable. Hope that makes sense.
@Kay S I feel the same way. Then I come here to see if anyone else struggled and see all these comments from people who loved it and even people who found it easy. And when people say they don’t like these, they get told to go elsewhere and find easier puzzles.
@Kim have you heard of toxic positivity? Let me feel what I want to feel today about today’s puzzle. I hated it. End of story.
@sonnel it happens to me sometimes too, but it’s a lot harder to get there mid work week when my brain is more fried. Oh well. P.S. go gauchos!
