PRed my solve time owing to the very elegant cluing, and I had no understanding of the trick until I read the column afterwards. WOW. I feel honored to solve this puzzle!

Loved this puzzle, fun solve that revealed itself at a statisfying pace. Found the accompanying column strange, and not just for the prank comment. Seemed to be down on the puzzle broadly which isn’t what I expect when I come to learn about how the tricky clues were PARSED.
