As a Brit who is approaching the end of his seventy-fifth orbit of the sun, I can affirm that I have never uttered that particular jolly cry of approval. However I do approve of this crossword, which actually took me longer than usual, but I loved the ‘both ways’ trick. Very elegant.
@Teresa Happy Thanksgiving Teresa, I’m a Brit living in Britain and I can assure you that, while we wish you nothing but happiness, we don’t celebrate it.
@Francis The first time I visited the US, the bus took us on the New Jersey Turnpike. The poignant sting that came from seeing the sign still resonates. Since that time I took many trips to look for America and I always found it somewhere. I think it's probably still there, but now I'd be afraid to go and look...
Haha, I zagged when I should have zigged! Otherwise, apart from not at first seeing stress ate as two words, pretty good.
@Sam I was so unsure that I checked my dictionary and was amazed I had it right first time. Then I worried what the US spelling might be, as I was (wrongly) certain that Noah Webster would have pruned it.
@Steve L I took a bus from Newark airport to Manhattan.
