another crazy one! I might just be losing my touch, but these have been some crazy words ... NOISOME, ESPIAL, obscure japanese media culture knowledge? never heard of Cara IRENE or TERRENCE howard either. SAMUS, BERNANDO, and COMMODORES are all new information to me as well, but not too hard to guess if you have all but one letter. ARAM FICA and EHOW were also tough solves. Usually I would be able to do a Wednesday with no help. Thankfully we have the comment section to help us out when the article fails to include all the ones that we need help with!
@One Way Ticket do you think it is wrong when they give us the first initial of the word in the clue? what about when they say “name hidden in ——“? i think three letters is fine. i paused for the same reason, but i don’t think it violates any rules. TRI isn’t a word that’s in the clue!

@Grant THANK YOU, i was stuck on the middle section but everyone in the article/comments is talking about the same 4 other clues! Book on CD isn't that hard..!!! BORNE... is it a new entry? I've been doing NYT for over 3 years and I can't remember seeing it..
@logical I wonder when they will fix it! I had a time trying to get DEA-APS to make sense. This was a really tough one for me! I’m still not done but I’m looking for hints in the comments.

@Bigwhistle thanks for your comment. i searched for 5+ minutes finding no errors. just had to open it on the computer and type any letter again and it completed for me. very frustrating!!
haven't needed help on a monday in probably years. well. i guess it's nice that we're increasing the difficulty since monday has always been sort of a fluff day for me. i do it to do it, but it's never challenging or fun. i dID like the theme despite rampant opposition from my fellow solvers. i dIDn't enjoy glitterati (genuinely never heard that in my life, crossed with RAWBAR--another new one for me--and my SKIM - SCAN misfill didn't help) Overall, there were a lot of hard ones. IGOR, UNIX, OVID, THE WIZARD OF ID, ADLER, and EARP were all really strange fills for a Monday. I'm not complaining about them getting tougher, but if that's the strategy you'd think they would mention it. :)
