@Francis I only recently started attempting Friday puzzles, and I think this was my first without any lookups! Proud of myself :)
Absolutely tickled by this puzzle, and earned my best time for a Wednesday! Congrats on the debut, Landon!
@Neil as an American myself, I hadn’t heard of the NSC, and I’m unfamiliar with a couple others on your list too. That section was tough! :/
Loved the theme, but maybe that’s my *bias* as a quilter showing :) Additionally, any reference to my lord and savior at 46D always tickles me. I’m unfamiliar with Mr. Hirsch, so after the first few crosses I assumed/hoped we shared a name, but alas. That middle-left section had me quite stumped - I had bLoB at first, then fLAB and aBC. The only Robinson I knew in baseball was Jackie, and I guess I’ve never thought of 23A in acronym form. Unrelatedly, I initially put down tAx for 1D before realizing that the clue did not actually say “tariff”. Oops. All in all, a slower than average Wednesday for me, but still fun! Thanks Joe!
@Lewis thanks for the explanation! I was trying to figure out what everyone meant by CC and was very confused!
Slow finish for me, but altogether a fun puzzle! I QUITE enjoyed the number of Q’s. Thanks Adam!
@Omols jealous! Have fun at QuiltCon! 🪡
That was fun! I finished in less than half of my average time, and was just under 30 seconds away from beating my best time. I loved American Girl dolls when I was growing up - Team Josefina! Thanks for a great puzzle, fellow Emily :)
@Leanne “storey” is correct in Canada, but in the US it’s spelled “story”. I’m not necessarily well-versed in the variations on English spellings from different countries, but I’ve noticed that the use of the letter E is sometimes contentious - not only in story/storey, but also in gray/grey, theater/theatre, airplane/aeroplane, to name a few. Not sure why!
My first Friday attempt in quite some time, and I came in under my average! While trying to look up the answer to 18A, I actually stumbled upon the answer to 11D - love that they crossed.
@AcidBurn bold move there, openly admitting that you don’t know what LGBT(Q) is - and during pride month no less! Personally, I don’t think I’d be strong enough to handle that kind of humiliation, but more power to you.
