As another person who hasn't read the books in the crossword, I really enjoyed it! It was my best time in a tuesday puzzle so far, and I didn't have to look anything up. As a non native speaker, I'm always happy with a puzzle that is accessible for people outside the US and doesn't use extremely obscure words. Fun puzzle, Mx. Panico!

I really enjoyed the puzzle! It didn't contain a lot of America-specific trivia that I don't recognize, so it's one of the few thursday puzzles I was able to solve on the day it comes out, without looking up every other answer. I didn't get the theme completely until reading the explanation, but had fun nevertheless!

That was really fun, and I didn't have to look up US-specific trivia because of the crosses, which doesn't happen that often. Really satisfying and a new PB, 7:12!

I really enjoyed the crossword today! I think it was one of the first Saturdays that felt really pleasant for me to solve. Kudos!

@Andrzej There were a lot of pretty tough ones for Non-Americans in here, I think!

@Al in Pittsburgh Brat is absolutely uniquely American! It wouldn't make sense to shorten it that way in German, because it comes from the verb "braten" and describes the way the "Wurst" is made (I don't know the grammatical term for a prefix like this). And, as Andrzej already replied, Oktoberfest is really strictly in Munich (although there are some cheap replicas in some other towns). Most people here try to avoid it because it is so touristy, we mostly prefer our local "Volksfest" or "Kirchweih" or one of the other million names for when you get together in a tent to drink beer and sing :D

@Steve L I thought "extended" was a day instead of a few minutes...

I thought it was really fun and for once I understood the rebusses and the theme without help. The pangram was the cherry on top! Joker/Poker made me think of that scene from Friends ("Joker is Poker with a J")
