@Eric Hougland I left a book of NYTimes puzzles sitting in the living room. My little sister found the book and carefully filled in all the answers from the solutions in the back — such a helpful little seven-year-old! I’m afraid I yelled at her… Sorry, Ty!

@Mike I went a little off track when I got “russet potatoes” and thought “eyed entity.”

@Eric Hougland Thank you for that fascinating link!

@DeaconClues Thank you! I didn’t even think to check that one (figuring that BAB was just another unknown-to-me cool new acronym)!

@Andrzej. Sporcle.com sends me a dozen or so quizzes every day by email. It’s a very fun trivia quiz site. Check it out.

@JayTee Thanks so much! I had no idea — totally a Natick for me, too!

@Joya Thank you — that was a fascinating side trip!

@Atavistic Cringeworder I don’t know what distinguishes rugby union from rugby league, but I always am puzzled by a score being called a “try.” Surely it should be called a “succeed.”

@Xword JunkieSame here! But my command of Asian ingredients wasn’t strong enough to steer me away from “utta.” That “a” was the last letter to fall for me — first letter, first word…

@kkseattle I totally agree. The metric system is for people who can only divide by one. I love that chart!

@Dan Without Deb’s explanation, I doubt I would ever have realized what was going on. I was struggling to fit in a rebus that would suffice in more than one instance, but no dice. It was kind of a fun relief once I knew the trick.

@Francis Don’t know from where, but interesting meditation.

I came upon the magnetic component in 52 Down as I laboriously searched for a wrong letter. I enjoyed the meditation you provided (but sadly have still not found my error).

@Nick Roumel Yes — where did they go?.
