@Andrzej It’s a reference to the game of golf. Sand TRAPS need a golf club called a wedge to help get the ball out of the sand.
Really enjoyed this one. Several false starts, including “ouch” before ACHE and “slice” before CRUST. Thanks, Kiran!
@Noah An easy “mark” is a person that can be easily taken advantage of; i.e., the target or intended victim of a swindle or of a con man.
@Rob Welch I would prefer you didn’t spout words like genocide in the comments section of the puzzle. There are many who would dispute that, and I’d rather not get into that in the comments section.
I enjoyed the puzzle, even if the many rebuses took way too long to enter. I had one error which was hard for me to find. I entered STINKs and LEAKs, and seeing that a ‘Y’ could replace the ‘s’ was a frustrating challenge. Sigh. Amazing puzzle authors to produce such a chewy pie! Thanks for all your work.
OSHA before MADD. OPAL before MICA. This led to a slow solve in the NW corner.
@ice9 Oboes are for sure double reeds, but they also are woodwinds. An oboe is a member of a woodwind quintet, for example, and, all instruments that require breath are winds - different from strings and percussion.
@Andrzej CSA stands for “community supported agriculture” - this is a local farm where members pay for fresh vegetables before the growing season and then collect them for many weeks, generally from June through October.
@MmmmHmm Interesting. I also finished the easy in under a minute. The medium took me 2:30, and the hard was quite difficult for me at 16 minutes. However, I enjoy the challenge of the hard level. I mostly find the hard to be 5 minutes.
