@John It is not round in the sense that it is not a (perfect) circle. You are right that there is a sense of “round” that means something more like “approximating the shape of a circle”. But that’s not the only sense.

@Teresa They match in tense and in some contexts are virtually interchangeable, e.g., “I tapped out” is roughly paraphrasable as “I had no more money to bet.” The reason they aren’t parallel in all contexts, though, is because “tap out” denotes an action whereas “have no more money to bet” denotes the resulting state.
