@Paul it's a theme entry. "d[ice] roll"
a timely, clever, and fun thursday. i only started solving crosswords 2ish months ago, and this is the closest i'm come to completing a thursday with minimal square reveals. and the theme...chef's kiss
a super hard tuesday and a rather breezy wednesday this week!
as someone who is new to the hobby + so far not a big fan of the more "gimmicky" puzzles (rebuses, mainly) i really liked this one! it was inventive, clever, and i actually was able to figure it out on my own. i also thought there was some very fun cluing in here (the $0.02 one as mentioned, and the clue for "pub"). great debut imo :~)
as a 30 year old solver new to the hobby i will echo what others are saying: this felt like a wednesday for me! breezy, flowed easily, and currently my first friday puzzle without needing to reveal any squares
@NY Expat oh, please. if you don't do it, then it shouldn't apply to you...and consequently you shouldn't feel sensitive about it. hit dogs holler?
@Jennifer first of all, AROACE is not an acronym. An acronym is a word formed from the initial letters of other words, and AROACE is just the commonly shortened versions of two identifiers smushed together (aromantic and asexual). second of all, i don't really see why you are worried about how other people choose to identify their sexual or romantic preferences, or why it's any of your business at all.
@Erik P i'm 30 and previously a twitch streamer and this was by far the breeziest friday puzzle ever for me
not to rain on anyone's parade, but haven't we had LABOR clued as "it brings out the child in you?" in a previous puzzle? it's still a fun clue, but i don't know that i'd necessarily call it original
