Sometimes, for me, a Friday puzzle will drag well into Saturday, so I make sure to start them when they come out at 10pm my time. Happy surprise! No dragging of my feet and scraping along today, but eagerly gobbling up nice and long, sensical and fresh answers! Delicious! 😋 Quick puzzle, but in my opinion the level/difficulty of a crossword is not determined by the speed at which I can solve it. Often, I find clunky puzzles can actually take the longest (and sometimes with less of a payoff, though to each their own I guess). This puzzle had me grinning ear to ear, and the fact that the Friday treat I usually save for lunch didn’t make it past my midnight snackage didn’t detract from my enjoyment of it in the slightest, much like the cat that ate the canary 😁 ————— This is just to say I have solved The puzzle For Friday And which I usually Save For lunch break Forgive me It was so nice So witty And so clever Happy Friday Eve :)
I had a doozy of a time wriggling my way out of PARKINGpass 🥴 Also: Gardening: A+ ACE OF SPADES i know it’s the wrong order thx 🙏🏼
As someone who grew up in Princeton and came to cherish my home, but was not of the local pedigree/old wealth of my peers and consequently felt shut out by of my own beloved town, this puzzle hurt. I’ve been, with more or less success, a crossworder for a while, however please note this is my first comment in the community (longtime beehive resident, however 🐝💕) After struggling with the puzzle all day and finally googling my way into some momentum, I now recognize the answers as the influenced by lexicon of wealthier pastimes. I watch American football because my dad is from the boondocks in Louisiana, not futbol (love the game, just not enough time to know the players). I don’t play golf or TOWELS, I always got kicked off the course for using the only running trails in town there (not Princeton, just TX). I don’t know anything about brewing beer, despite having worked for the older retirees who bought a brewery as a bartender (MASH). I feel some weird matrilineal indignation at the reduction of “ocean” or “depths” to “DEEPS”???, and have subconscious wonderings about its connection to the OceanGate’s Titan. When I don’t know an answer that genuinely piques my curiosity, I prefer to go down the wiki rabbit hole and see what I can come up with and the consensus seems to be that Maui pulled the islands of Hawaii up from the ocean floor with his fishhook, and Pele’s involvement had more to do their turning volcanic and less about their initial creation. tl:dr - wealth gap
@Hannah While I’m at it, I would also like to add that I feel very bent out of shape about EGIRLS being described as GenZ, having had girlfriends of mine try to be just that as early as the 2000s, as well as working with GenZ kids as an educator and can promise you that (at least the ones I work with) have no idea what they are. (I understand that there seems to be a budding resurgence but bent I remain all the same). Regardless, this puzzle resurfaced some very old wounds for me regarding class difference. Things that I was always able to see, but never touch. Parties I would be asked to waitress, service, bartend for, but never be invited to. Grounds I knew deeply from every tree and branch and statue, with buildings on them containing worlds into which I’ll likely never go. Anyhoo (🐝 💎) thanks for reading :) tl:dr - hmph >:(
“Close, but not quite…grrr, drat!” Definitely pufnstuf, right? No, google tells me this is correct. jrewing?? Nope, also right. It was erecr, typoed. Sometimes, I overthink it 😅
