I thought the saran and sari answer might have been DELHIWRAP (or DELIWRAP with the number of letters) but I was too punny for my own good!

As one with a birthday on Groundhog Day (no I haven't seen my shadow, don't ask 😂) I loved this puzzle.

My daughter is in scouts and they had an entire camp outing with an axolotl theme. Can't wait to tell her that helped me solve the puzzle today!

This was a brutal puzzle. Ever since I neared a milestone I've been fearful that I will come across something like this that will end the run. Happy to say that I persisted, but Byron definitely made me earn that 1000 crossword streak!

Salute to my 5th grade Social Studies teacher for ATAHUALPA. I'm in my 40s and I still remember that!

If you like puzzles like the theme answers in this puzzle, The Atlantic just started a free one called Bracket City. Having played it for a few weeks is the reason I was able to solve this puzzle as quickly as I did!

Congrats on the puzzle, Dan. This one was tough and took a lot of time to look at, but I just finished it and hit 900 on my streak!

I had never specifically heard of a ! meaning "Bang" but in Linux scripts a #! is called a "Shebang." Like others, Chips Ahoy! and Yahoo! gave me hints that there was something else needed at the end!

As a member of FL Iota's 2001 class, seeing SigEp as an answer made me smile. VDBL and ### to those brothers doing the puzzle!

Immediately thought REBUS when I saw the first few answers I just "knew" were right but didn't have enough letters. Figured out that two letters were missing from each down clue, but it wasn't until I read WordPlay after completing the puzzle that I discovered the two letters were at the front of each clue. Very clever, Jesse!

@Jessica Good to see playing Bracket City helped you out just like it did me! I knew the name in my head of what the dolls were called... now spelling it correctly was a whole DIFFERENT issue!

Immediately knew the North clue. I remember watching the New York Friars Club Roast of Rob Reiner on Comedy Central, and Richard Belzer asked him to come up on stage and read something... it was Ebert's review of North that started with I hated this movie. Hated hated hated hated...
