Surprised that 34D (RECUR) was not clued as a revealer, since the theme is recursive clues.
UP crossing UP at square 21 feels half-baked especially because both UPs here are acting as separate words in a phrase (vs as a prefix at 55A). With so many UPs, maybe the constructor is a Pixar fan? Or perhaps they have a preferred courier company.
@Derrick absolutely brilliant. Thanks for posting this. Great to get into the mind of the creator. My only nitpick was the Toast duplication but it totally makes sense that something had to bend a bit, given the incredible constraints of the theme.
@John Appleseed Yes, wonderful puzzle, but I agree that my only constructive (ha!) criticism is the cluing for BENEDICTS. Would have been less esoteric but just as brain-scratchy to clue it as either a verb or as a reference to multiple popes IMO.
