@Jim “no cap” is Gen Z slang for “no lie”
@Bruce Adobe is a kind of brick, not the name of a structure made out of Adobe. That’s like calling a home “wood” or “concrete.”
@Francis there’s a difference between a puzzle being innovative and a puzzle using cheap tricks to make it ‘harder.’ For example the grammar of the clue should match the grammar of the answer. “Adobe” is the name of a kind of brick and cannot accurately be used as a noun for a brick home. If slang or some other kind of twist is invoked, there should at least subtle indicators in the clue, even if just a question mark. Especially if the word or phrase is not a “real word” I find that this puzzle puts in notably less labor to uphold this ‘dignity’ of crossword puzzles than other ones. Hence I find this puzzle less ‘creative’ and more ‘dishonest.’ I’m not sure why you’re being aggressive, we’re just sharing our opinions on this puzzle.
@Jim haha, it’s okay! Most of the time I struggle with crossword puzzles because they largely feel oriented toward older white generations. I also hesitated at this clue because I feel they didn’t sufficiently indicate that it was modern slang, other than the ‘gonna’
@John I also thought Plato at first lol!
@Steve L So true the sin’s counterpart would’ve been hard. I didn’t have either issue, I’m bad at math so I put cosin
@Francis This is a comments section, not an academic journal, Francis. Thank you for clarifying several times that you very much disagree with me, I wasn’t sure based off your patronizing tone.
This was a perverted and dishonest puzzle to publish in my opinion. I prefer crossword puzzle writers with a little more moral standing
@Barry Ancona You’re right Barry, thanks, that example isn’t true. Regardless I still believe my point still stands and that the responses to my comment are unfounded
@Jamie Thank you Jamie, I just realized this example isn’t true; I believe that my point still stands, and nevertheless I don’t know why these old people are being so disrespectful and rude
