First time poster, but felt I had to share my joy of a 365 day streak! And to finish on a Saturday- with no lookups! Thanks to the Wordplay team- Caitlin, Deb and Sam- your enthusiasm and humor have provided the foundations to keep me plugging on. And a shout out to Will Shortz- as I think back, listening to the puzzle master on NPR, and being exposed to KenKen might have been the spark that got my puzzle juices flowing, (4-5 yrs ago)and allowed me to start trying those early week XWords.. then to boldly go to the Thursday trickery- rebuses & tongue twisters šŖļø. And thanks to the lively commenters in this forum- I thought Capt. Q and CLM would appreciate another voice from DownEast. On to the next leg of the journey! Nothing better than Sunday AM latte and croissant and the NYT Sunday puzz. Amiright? Cheers!
@Mike Very well said, Mike. Best of luck as your next chapter unfolds, Deb!
@Cat Lady Margaret Saw what you did there- didnāt bother me, Ore Ida run away š
@Lewis Sooo appropriate for Dadās day . Total groaner, and well-played.
@Cat Lady Margaret Guilty as charged
@Lewis Nice oneās Lewis. How about aspiring jurist? BAR GLASSES š¤
I always heard Neil Diamondās lyric as āReverend Blue Jeansā- song about a relaxed pastor
@Francis I actually went to Merriam Webster to lookup āpragency ā as Sam is such a wordsmith š
@Joan Exact same sticking point! Loved the groan-worthy puns.
@Am So Iām not the only one experiencing this! Thought I was going senile with misplaced digital touches š. Thanks for the tip, fellow worders .
@Lewis Coffee Spit-take, Lewis š¤£š¤£
@Petrol All time best! I hope Will sees it
@Francis What a serene image that paints, Francis. I will help bring on a dreamy slumber. Cheers!
@Emkay Camels definitely spit, as do Alpacas (tho it wouldnāt fit). Theyāre all camellids btw, and their aim is pretty good!
Funny how the brain works, sometimes. As I was filling in 59A I saw the western MA town and -ire, and wondered if it was a new version of St. Elmoās. Of course, at theāfopā didnāt exactly work. DOH!
@Captain Quahog Really cool stuff, Cap. Have not seen a Nudibranch referred to in AGES.Brought back memories of my undergrad years at Cornell- spent 2 summer sessions at the Shoals Marine Lab (off Portsmouth NH) and invertebrate biology there was such a treat š¦Ŗ. All that remains is to work āveliger larvaā into a conversation (sorry for the marine bio geek out folks).
@Ellie It Took me a while but Iām with you in that they are 4 synonyms for āmateā and they all occur as 2 separated parts in the grid. So- āMate- in twoā
