@Lpr Colonel is another tough speller.
@Amy I guess “speed up quickly” wouldn’t be ideal to replace Yellow?
I was convinced it was IMED and it wasn’t until I went through every clue one by one twice before DM popped in my head. Probably wasted 5 to 10 minutes before that bell was rung.
I’m a relative newbie to the NYT crossword puzzles I see a lot of comment, here, talking about how the puzzle compares to expectations for given days of the week. Can someone explain to me how the puzzles differ each day of the week? I have noticed that Mondays seem to be on the easier side just curious what the other days of the week might bring.
I thought it humorous that ZZ Top is called Zed Zed Top “across the Atlantic”.
I didn’t know if the HA Rebus went to the left or right of the bold line so I tried to the left. That wasn’t it so I just removed the HAs and TA DA that worked. So technically didn’t use the Rebus function.
Took me way too long to realize that EXUDES should be EXUDED. Yes, I need to pay better attention to the tense of the clue.
@Steve L my mistake. I did hear it once but guess must’ve been in jest. Still a funny thought though.
@Dave K. I don’t keep record what my personal bests are for each day of the week, but today was my indicated to be my personal best for a Wednesday and beat my average by 18 minutes. given that I’m a relatively newbie to crosswords (I have been doing them on a daily basis for only the past five or six months) and would consider this on the relatively easy side.
I don’t get it. I read the column. Is each letter in the backwards birds a Rebus?
@Steve L same with me regarding filling in the third RERE after seeing the first two. I did not get the theme until it I was all done and noticed it was referring to a PAIR of “RE”s.
@Ben I didn’t even realize there was a theme until I read your comment. Is the theme EG or something like that?
@Michael OK I’ll just reply to myself because I just read the commentary and saw the mention of the theme there.
