Spent a long time certain the number of states was "zero" rather than "none." I think of "none" as a quantity, not a number?

@Alex Barry I was absolutely stunned that the answer was "AWOL." One is a probable tragedy, the other deliberate crime. I do the puzzles with my husband and actually refused to type in "AWOL" for a bit, even when it became obvious that was the answer, because I really couldn't believe anyone would call them synonyms. Kept telling him we must be mistaken.

@sbs I had the same quibble; I never thought the word was supposed to mean "really good," (the "super" at the beginning notwithstanding) and so I was thrown off for ages -- the only possibilities for _ON_ I could think of were "song" and then, surely-not-but-I-am-desperate, "long."

@john ezra I immediately thought of Konigsburg too! Many of her books count among my favorites.

Almost a fight tonight, as I couldn't understand why on earth my husband thought the answer might be "have a tit"?!
