I’m conflicted. I hated this puzzle while solving it and cursed this grid often. But it also felt like it was deserving of being a Saturday due to the difficulty. I regularly felt stupid and had to look up a lot of the trivia because I didn’t know it and couldn’t get the crosses. Now that I finished it I feel oddly proud despite needing more lookups than I’ve had to do in a long time and it still taking significantly longer than my average. I dunno, it is an impressive grid, but for me it was a slog. At least it motivated me to go back to working through the Saturday archive puzzles to get to a point where I can solve one like this without lookups someday.
