@Man and 2 dogs I suspect that part of the issue is with online solvers who get hung up on the feedback from the app telling them how long they streak is and their average solve time. Personally, I have fun trying to beat my averages times M-W, but some of the more challenging puzzles are more enjoyable without the time pressure

@Frank I remember those days, and was happy to see Stickum mentioned on Fred’s Wikipedia entry: “Biletnikoff popularized the use of Stickum,an adhesive that many players applied to their hands to assist with catching and gripping the ball. He would apply the substance all over his body and uniform prior to a game, a practice that was later picked up by Raiders cornerback Lester Hayes after Biletnikoff introduced him to it. The use of Stickum was banned by the NFL in 1981.”

@Nancy I learned about SQUEE a few years ago in a profile of the author Neil Gaiman. Apparently it is the sound that his adolescent girl fanbase makes when they catch sight of him. Could be the sound that Swifties make, too, but I imagine the lingo has changed by now.
