Mark the day, June 14, 2026 It's when the NY timew crossword officially jumped the shark A slog of a puzzle, and utter nonsense/arbitrarily made up themed answers.
@Jim en tant que francophone je dirai que vous me semblez un tout petit peu sensé. J'urilise l'expression en anglais et je ne le trouve pas «trop»
i could barely get started on this one
often i struggle with Saturdays and sometimes cannot finish them without a clue but for me this was the easiest Saturday in a long time. the upper left quadrant came in just a few minutes. then getting 48 down and zeitgeist quickly helped with the rest. i loved some of the long answers like dungbeetle zeitgeist and turing test.
far and away my fastest Friday ever. liked some of the spanners
@Tex made up nonsense. never seen that before in the Crossword. but since it's allowed i'll just create answers like lalalaladididididadadada and clue it "so what, he stuttered?"
I definitely liked the theme, even though the puzzle was wrote on the easy side for me
@Patrick we use the term in soccer (football) all the time as well, when a ball is struck far over the goal's crossbar
@Sam wages are now required in the ads in many jurisdictions
@mistermiranda Agree, this is a Hawaiian word and calling it a Chinese appetizer is incorrect. Would be like calling spaghetti an American pasta.
Still Dre dropped in 2012 not 2022 was confused for a long time in NE corner
@Logan solved but I don't get it either fries and salad. how is that offsides?
@Steven Golus I am in awe of this puzzle, and loved it. just about average difficulty for me, but lots of long answers along with the very clever theme made for a fun solve.
