@Indy Puzzler- you continue to do the puzzles every Friday and Saturday, yet you continually complain about them. Hmm..why have you not moved on the something more satisfying to you? They are, after all, voluntary. And there are other crossword groups. One option you might try is looking up the very first NYT puzzles that were published in the 30’s and 40’s . With different slang, stricter rules, and long forgotten social/cultural/political references, they are quite challenging. First challenge is finding them. Another option is learning to create your own. That seems to be quite the challenge. Good luck.
I got the “double” aspect, but did not really appreciate the “nothing” aspect until I read the summary. That was brilliant! Thanks, guys.
Tough but fun. I enjoyed the “aha” moments. Still don’t get “Jinx”. Maybe it’s because I’m older…. Well done!
Took a while to figure out the “four conundrums”, but it was definitely an Aha moment! Actually, there lots of AHA moments in this puzzle. Enjoyable. Thank you.
@Dee there is a small round icon in the toolbar above the puzzle. Click on it and then click on “check puzzle”. It will show the mistake with a red line through the erroneous square. It’s usually a letter you accidentally touched and changed, or an “I” where an “e”should be. Hope that helps.
This is the first time I’ve seen a punctuation symbol accepted as an answer. Does this mean that question marks, hyphens, dollar signs etc, are now fair game?
Careful what you wish for. With all of the abbreviations of band names, acronyms, and “informal “ versions of slang words, and Roman numerals, allowing numbers would be slippery slope indeed! “CROSSODUKU” is on the horizon, my friend…
@LStott Agreed - One man’s “reimagining” is another man’s “garbled”. Even after solving through crosses, I wasn’t interested in looking up the original to make sense of it. Moving on to another day…
