I played the midi for one of the first times this morning. Several clues had brackets at the end e.g., clue: “Evasive [11, 7]” and the answer was “cagey”. I googled what the brackets meant and received several conflicting answers. Then read the How to solve the crossword NYT article that’s linked in this article, but couldn’t find what these brackets mean. Could anyone help me decipher this?
