@sotto voce Right on. It was hard to solve, but a joy when you finally saw Frost's famous poem condensed in this very funny way. It shows how when a beautiful, famous poem is condensed to straightforward prose, the magic gets lost.
Tuesday is supposed to be easy. This was way too hard. Had to look up so many things as hints. Yesterday Monday was also too hard. Enough already. You want to show off? Do it on the Thursday Friday Saturday puzzle. In past weeks I'm able to easily do Monday and Tuesday -- then Wednesday with some difficulty. This week no.
@Pani Korunova Wilhelm Röentgen discovered X-rays, and the unit for X-ray exposure is named after him.
Very enjoyable. I'm borderline with doing Wednesday puzzles, but this one went fairly easily. Bottom right I had "exterior" which messed things up until I finally figured out "external." "Sostenuto" is the Italian version of "sustain" which is a standard musical notation for holding a note a bit longer, or spreading out a musical phrase.
A yellow card is a warning, doesn't mean a penalty kick. A penalty kick can be awarded without giving a yellow card. And a yellow card can be issued for many different offenses, such as too much arguing with the ref, delaying the game, or overly rough play.
Much too hard for Tuesday. Tuesday is supposed to be easy. I still don't get the circled letters even with the explanation. Save the showing off for Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
value is a lousy clue for "prize". Even if you consider value as a verb, when you value something, you don't prize something. And as a noun, a value is not a prize. Lousy clue.
