Can I say, this was a NEAT puzzle?
How many different ways are there to spell “kebab”? Chances are I’ll always guess wrong.
This was a hard puzzle. That’s all.
A good Friday puzzle should make you go around the circuit a few times. This was one of those.

Hmmm...37 Across gave me the "EYE" when i just entered the "E" (i.e., no rebus was necessary). It was my final letter.
ETAT left me scratching my head, especially not having taken French.
The artist who is the answer to 26 across was never with Motown, but with Atlantic Records. Huge miss there.
