Elderly Man w/ a Poor Memory

Drew: Here’s my AULD ODE for you —-> Phor he’s a jolly good fellow! Phore he’s a jolly good fellow! For he’s a jolly good fellow! Fore he’s a jolly good fellow! Four he’s a jolly good fellow! Nice work!
What a gorgeous, gorgeous grid, Dan! Love your 15s! Today’s toughness more than made up for yesterday’s ease! The 7 Down clue and answer describes the era we are now living in: Alters the narrative, in a way: REWRITESHISTORY
Nice job, ladies. Outstanding theme clues and answers especially —> *Mother superior? : SECONDTONONENUN
Nifty puzzle that required lots of context shifting (more than usual for a Tuesday). Good work.
Always fun to have SASS and SASH as answers in the same puzzle.. Nice work!
I noticed that JOEL FAGLIANO edited today’s puzzle once again. Is this like June 2, 1925 when Wally Pipp suffered his famous headache and was replaced in the Yankee lineup by Lou Gehrig who then went on to set a Major League Baseball record of 2,130 consecutive games played?
I hope that the NYT also does a PI DAY themed puzzle on July 22nd. 22/7 (how much of the rest of world expresses dates) is closer to the true value of Pi than 3/14.
I like the constructor’s notes. I, too, sometimes create things that a year later I don’t remember how I did it.
I’m delighted that Jeffrey’s Pi-Day offering was edited by the incomparable JOEL FAGLIANO. You may remember that Joel was the constructor of the greatest X-Word puzzle ever to appear in the New York Times: “Heard at the Movies” on August 31, 2014. Check it out: https://www.xwordinfo.com/Crossword?date=8/31/2014 If you like Mondegreens, you’ll love what Joel did with these clues: HONDA WATT AFFRONT (On the Waterfront, the best movie Oscar winner)
Jeffrey’s tribute to PI DAY is nice. The cherry on top: Congrats to Elon for a successful PI DAY orbital launch of Starship!
Department of PI DAY deaths: On March 14, 1883, Karl Marx made his greatest contribution. He died. (Note: only six people showed up at his funeral.)
What you say about Megan may be true, but at least half of America took delight in her (way off the mark) miss in the overtime shootout at the last World Cup championship!
