Nice one! A good challenge, in which I believe that you had to get the gimmick in order to solve it. Knowing “the San Francisco treat” is probably dating yourself. Hope it was not too obscure for the non-boomers.
Oof! Even cracking the gimmick (gimcrack?) didn’t do it. TAEBO/ABU was a natick for me It took me a long time to make sense out of FLUSTRAIN, so I began to wonder if LUST was the correct “feeling.” Good puzzle!
Oof! A post-Xmas Nutcracker. Took almost an hour longer than my Friday average. All parts were tough, but the SW corner was nearly my Waterloo. SHINEON was new to me, so took forever to get HIRE/FIRE, which should have been easy.
Oof! Diabolical. A lot of non-typical words and clues. Congrats to those that breezed through, b/c I found about 1/3 of this quite hard to crack. Things were looking very grim for a while. Great job by the constructor!
@Remy Reminds me of the Boy Scout campfire chant: “O Wah Tygoo Siam.” You had to repeat it till you got it. Then, off on a snipe hunt.
