Hi, Mark. I really enjoyed your puzzle and look forward to more from you. I am a relative newbie NYT puzzler (only solving consistently for a year) so I get a little intimidated on weekend puzzles; however, this one was so satisfying! Not typical solves, and challenging , but I finished it earlier than my average and no clues! I think our brains must work similarly. Happy Birthday!
I was very intrigued this morning when I saw one of the puzzle’s authors. Such a renaissance man! I’m a newby to NYT CW (had to work my way to the top!), and certainly not a crossword expert like some of these guys, but I really enjoyed the puzzle. I had to look up a few, but I generally do. Thanks for a fun exercise!
Very nice Wednesday puzzle. My fav is “catscan”!
Congratulations on your debut NYT puzzle! It had me going for a bit. The first clue I cracked was “I Don’t Know Can You.” As a retired English professor (and a current Mom/Aunt), I was delighted! Clever clues all around. I hope to see more of your puzzles. I’ll be looking for you!
Bill! I loved “The Long Ships” many years ago and have recently been thinking of re-reading (ahh, my overflowing ‘to-be-reads’ hinder me)! But the longing to revisit an old friend is strong…your post was somewhat of a validation! Thanks.
