So much better than yesterday's. What makes a crossword hard/fun is the wordplay, not trivia.
Fun and funny! Please do some more. One clue that tripped me up was "Made smooth." _ _ ONED. I kept wanting to put ST in the first two spaces. Cheers
Hi, I'm new to puzzle comments with a longtime peeve that's probably been explained: why the heck does the Times make Monday's crossword the default halfway through Sunday? Here in California, we don't see Monday's Wordle, Spelling Bee or Connections until after 12:01 am Monday, Pacific time. That's as it should be. So why do we have to go to the Archive to see the Sunday puzzle when it's still Sunday?
@Helen Wright I think of "serviettes" as paper and "napkins" as either, but have a blurry memory of "paper napkins", so if "paper" was a marker, then the usual "napkin" must have been cloth. Does that clear things up?
@Alissa Ah yes, the junkers and the tricks we had. You can't use the same workarounds on these newfangled vehicles. Can't jump start by pushing it down a slope and jumping in. Can't fix an alternator short in the rain with a spritz of WD-40. Can't use a screwdriver to start it after the key breaks inside the key starter thingy.
@Rachel Wow! Eight minutes for this one? Champion!
