Wow. My first gold star on a rebus puzzle. I never thought that day would come. What a fun solve! This would make an excellent introduction to someone who's never heard of rebuses. Thank you for this memorable Thursday.
Congrats on a great debut! A perfect Monday puzzle. I'm 10 years older than you and have been solving crosswords for as long as I can remember, but I'm still struggling with constructing my own. You are an inspiration and I hope to see many more puzzles from you in the future. I really LOVED your theme! (and that's saying something since I usually dislike "phonetic themes") And it's my American partner's birthday today who taught me at the beginning of our relationship how to pronounce "sea anemone" correctly and while he's still struggling with Monday and Tuesday puzzles, I have a feeling this is the perfect one for him. Thank you! T
Can't remember the last time I enjoyed a Saturday puzzle this much. It was a challenging yet peaceful solve. I generally prefer the themeless puzzles especially when they are as elegantly constructed as this one. Absolutely delightful. Puzzles like these keep me coming back for more and inspire me to learn and improve my solving skills. I am definitely one of those "befuddled solvers" too young for BUSHISMS (especially having grown up in Germany) but regardless of that and the fact that I puzzled over it until there was nothing else left to solve... I love the clue! Thank you for a memorable Saturday Puzzle, hopefully won't be your last themeless, Mr. Schreiber!
I was so focused on this satisfying solve that I completely forgot the time and was shocked to see I got a new personal best ! I really ran through this one, everything just clicked for me! Oh, how I love a tough themeless puzzle... Thank you for this excellent Saturday! More please!
@Andrzej I could not agree more! I solved that Sunday yesterday, too and what an unenjoyable puzzle that was... and now on a Monday THIS??? Like you, it seriously gets me wondering about whether I should keep doing these or take a break. The editing lately has just not been what it used to be.
@J You are definitely not alone in your opinion! Thank you for speaking up. Took me 15 minutes when it usually takes me 6-8... And it wasn't any fun either which is the point isn't it?
@Bill in Yokohama Brute force is exactly what this puzzle required! At the end of a tough Monday this is not the puzzle experience you want...
@Dan this made me laugh out loud!
