Great theme! "Off the cuff" to clue HOUDINI is a very fun bit of wordplay; probably my favorite clue today
Really enjoyed this one! Always nice to see a theme show some love for the Down answers
@Jason K It's a common trope in D&D that the players' characters will get their first quest from a mysterious stranger they meet in a tavern - if you're familiar with Lord of the Rings, Frodo meeting Aragorn in the Green Dragon is probably the archetypal example of this.
Very fun puzzle! Finding "x or y" phrases that could also be clued in this specific way could not have been easy
Really enjoyed this one! Satisfying "aha" moment realizing that the theme entries were meta references to their own circled letters, and fun to try and reverse-engineer that process. I wasn't familair with the term "quip puzzle", so the "prank" aspect was lost on me, but still very neat!
Cute theme and a fun puzzle! A gramamtical correction, though: the clue for 34D should use the singular "Inuk", not the plural "Inuit".
